Who says exes have to be at odds? Though their on-again, off-again relationship has resulted in its share of tabloid drama, Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez are now seemingly friends, despite the ups and downs. Breaking the heart of the Internet after their 2014 split, the pair have moved on to new romances—Gomez recently parted ways with The Weeknd and Bieber has been linked to a bevy of rumored love interests—without losing their connection. Hanging out in Los Angeles yesterday, they displayed their own complementary perspectives on fashion as they took in the best of what the weekend had to offer. Heading to church, hanging out at Bieber’s sprawling Beverly Hills mansion, and hitting up brunch spot Joi Cafe in Westlake Village, they spent the day in casual style.

Pulling out the athleisure basics with a “homeslice” hoodie and white shorts worn with red Converse Chuck Taylors, Bieber was at his sleazy-chic best. Accessorizing with the wire-rim glasses that have become part of his signature look and adding a bit of rocker charm with an Axl Rose–esque red bandana, he looked the part of the on-trend popstar. As for Gomez, she kept things preppy, opting for cuffed denim that revealed a hint of stomach and a cream-color cropped sweater worn with a matching oversize purse. Continuing to refine the chic girl-next-door vibe that, in recent months, has seen her stepping out in Jacquemus, Chloé, and Saint Laurent.

Never ones to dress in sync, Gomez and Bieber had their own individual approaches to fashion. Though their looks remain on opposite ends of the spectrum, they represent the perfect good-girl-meets-bad-boy pairing—whether or not they’re dating. Now at the peak of their fashion influence and suddenly hanging out again, this reunion means we could see more bandanas, hoodies, and elevated prep moments on the horizon.
